Substitute Decision Making

This Regulatory Education Program (REP) session focused on substitute decision making in naturopathic care in Ontario. We looked at the legal and ethical frameworks including the Regulated Health Professions Act, 1991 (RHPA), the Health Care Consent Act, 1996 (HCCA), and the Personal Health Information Protection Act, 2004 (PHIPA).
This session provided applicable practical insights into informed consent and the navigation of complex situations in compliance with relevant legislation and ethical standards. It helped both naturopathic doctors and substitute decision makers understand their roles and deepen their knowledge to enhanced patient care.
