Issuance of a Certificate of Registration
This final step is intended to reduce the challenges of purchasing professional liability insurance and eliminate the unnecessary cost of carrying the insurance before you are able to practice.
Once eligible for Step 3, you will receive email notice from the College which can be provided to insurance brokers for obtaining professional liability insurance.
The initial registration fee for the current registration year (which runs from April 1 – March 31) is noted under the Initial Registration Fee and Pro-ration Schedule on the Applicant Fees section of the website. The registration fee is determined at the point at which you become eligible for Step 3 and billed upon approval of your online Step 3 form.
The following is required, in order to finalize your registration and allow a certificate of registration to be issued:
Step 3 online form
The Step 3 online form is available via the dashboard on your College account. For assistance in completing the form, please refer to the Application for Registration Handbook.
You must provide a recent passport-sized photograph to the College, which will be displayed on your profile on the Public Register. Your photo must be sent with, and adhere to the requirements noted on, the Photo Submission Form.
Note: photo and photo form submissions which do not adhere to the requirements will cause delays in completing the registration process. Please review before you submit.
Proof of Professional Liability Insurance
Professional liability insurance must meet the professional liability requirements set out in the College By-laws
The following details regarding your professional liability insurance (PLI) are required on the Step 3 online form:
- name of insurance provider;
- name of insurance broker;
- policy number;
- policy coverage amount; and
- policy expiration date.
A copy of your professional liability certificate must be uploaded as part of completing your Step 3 online form, must match the information provided in the form, and clearly display the following information:
- your name;
- policy number;
- name or insurer;
- name of broker;
- policy coverage amount, including limit of liability; and
- policy term (effective start date and expiry date).
While the photo must be sent or delivered to the College, everything else can be completed online.
Once the College has received payment, reviewed the insurance information provided and uploaded the photograph to the Public Register, a confirmation e-mail which will include a registration number and instructions on accessing the certificate of registration, will be sent. Note: Registration is not complete until all necessary documentation and fees have been submitted and notification of registration has been sent by the College.
When researching professional liability insurance, be sure that the policy covers the full scope of naturopathic practice. The College does not approve insurance providers.
All correspondence from the College will be sent electronically. Please make sure your current e-mail address is provided and updated as necessary.
