Notice of Registration and Professional Corporation Fees Change

Posted On: January 15, 2024

Each year, the College applies changes in the Consumer Price Index to the annual registration fees paid by Registrants of the College. This increase is mandated in section 18.04 of the College by-laws. These changes are based on the year over year index for All Items – Ontario November 2023, generally published in December each year. This notice of the fee change is required in the by-laws.

As published in December 2023, the CPI for All Items – Ontario at November 2023 indicated that consumer prices had increased by 3.3% when compared to the same index in November 2022. . As a result, registration fees will also increase by 3.3%.

This fee increase is effective for the forthcoming registration renewal period for the 2024-25 registration year, which will open on February 14, 2024, and closes on March 31, 2024. The fees effected and the new rates (excluding HST) are as follows:

  • Annual Registration Fee – General Class – $1852,
  • Annual Registration Fee – Inactive Class – $929,
  • Late Renewal Fee – All Classes – $327,
  • Reinstatement Fee – All Classes – $285.

Please note that to renew your registration, you must pay the annual registration fee and complete the Information Return form by 5:00 p.m. ET on March 31, 2024. All renewal functions, including access to the information return form, will be available through the College user portal as of 9:00 a.m. on February 14, 2024.

As the deadline for renewal, March 31, 2024, is a Sunday and falls between two Ontario Statutory Holidays, College staff will not be available after 5:00 pm ET on March 28th until the office re-opens on April 2, 2024. Registrants are therefore highly encouraged to renew early as the data relayed on Information Return forms may require further review by the College before it can be approved.

Delaying the submission of your Information Return form to the end of the renewal period may result in your inability to pay the fees by the deadline which will result in a late fee being added to your account.

2024 Professional Corporation Fees

The Regulated Health Professions Act (RHPA), 1991 and the Health Professions Procedural Code, which is Schedule 2 of the RHPA, along with Ontario Regulation 39/02 made under the RHPA allow members of a regulated health profession to become incorporated under the Ontario Business Corporations Act (BCA).

As such, naturopathic doctors are permitted to incorporate for the purpose of practising a health profession, provided they obtain a certificate of authorization from the College. These Professional Corporation certificates are subject to application and issuance fees, and a renewal fee.

In November 2023, following a 60-day consultation period, the Council approved amendments to the by-laws of the College that included a new provision to apply an automatic fee increase based on the Consumer Price Index to all fees relating to Professional Corporations. The relevant by-law provision is section 25.01.1.

As a result, effective January 15, 2024, Professional Corporation fees will be similarly adjusted against the CPI and increased by 3.3%. The fees effected, and the new rates (excluding HST) are as follows:

  • Professional Corporation Application fee – $501,
  • Professional Corporation Issuance fee- $315,
  • Professional Corporation Annual Renewal fee – $258.

Fee changes apply to all applications, issuances and renewals of Certificate of Authorizations on or after January 15, 2024.
