Posted On: April 3, 2024

On January 17, 2024, the College issued a Call for Nominations for Election to the Council for Districts 2, 4 and 6. The deadline for receipt of nominations was February 20, 2024. The College is pleased to provide an update to registrants on this process.

By the close of nominations on February 20, 2024, the following Registrants had been nominated in each of the respective districts:

  • Felicia Assenza, ND of Hamilton, ON (District 2),
  • Erin Walsh (Psota), ND of Toronto, ON (District 4),
  • Brenda Lessard-Rhead, ND (Inactive) of Aurora, ON (District 6).

As only one nomination was received for each district, each of these candidates have been elected by acclamation. Each will assume their position at the commencement of the May 29, 2024, meeting of the Council of the College. Please join me in congratulating Felicia, Erin and Brenda!

At the same time, we also say goodbye to three current Council members.

  • Jonathan Beatty, ND of Port Hope joined the Council in May 2021 and has served both on the Council and as a member of the Discipline Committee.
  • Anna Graczyk, ND of Hamilton joined the Council in May 2022 through a by-election held that year in the district. Dr. Graczyk, ND served on both the Council and the Registration Committee during her term. She has also recently celebrated the birth of her lovely daughter.
  • Shelley Burns, ND of Toronto joined the Council in January 2016 as a Council member on the first elected Council following proclamation. Dr. Burns, ND has been a long serving member of the Registration Committee and has served extensively as a member of the Executive Committee where she held the position of Council Vice-Chair. Shelly has now served the maximum amount of time permitted under the Health Professions Procedural Code.

On behalf of the registrants of the College, the Council and the staff we express our sincere gratitude to Jonathan, Anna and Shelley for their service and we wish them continued success in their practice.
