Announcing the College's Strategic Plan for 2023-27

On behalf of the Council of the College of Naturopaths of Ontario, I am pleased to announce that the Council has finalized a new strategic plan for the next four years.  A copy of the plan is now available on the College’s website.

What is a strategic plan?  It is an important document which sets out the overall objectives for the College for the coming years. It establishes how the College sees the future being different because of the work that this organization undertakes.

The new plan is the culmination of a great deal of work by and on behalf of the Council. The process began with scanning our environment to identify our strengths, weaknesses, challenges and opportunities. An issue identification process was also undertaken to provide context to our planning work. Our external consultant interviewed the College’s system partners, including the Ontario Ministry of Health, the Ontario Association of Naturopathic Doctors, the Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine, Health Professions Regulators of Ontario and the Canadian Alliance of Naturopathic Regulators.

In November and December of 2022, the Council met on three separate occasions to consider key elements of the plan, including our vision, mission, values and, of course, our strategic objectives and priorities. At the end of January 2023, the Council received and approved both a strategic plan and new Ends Statements for our governance policies. The Council has also asked the Governance Policy Review Committee to consider amendments to the Ends Priorities of our Governance policies and make recommendations to the Council.

As we move towards implementing the plan and working towards its stated objectives, the Council looks forward to receiving a new Operational Plan along with new Operating and Capital Budgets in March.  These will establish the College’s operational efforts to meet the objectives set out in our plan.

In closing, and on behalf of the Council, I want to take this opportunity to thank all of our system partners, for providing their input, our Registrants who responded to our Strategic Planning Survey, and our senior staff team without whose help this process could not have been completed.

I would also like to thank our Council members for their work and support on this important initiative.

Dr. Jordan Sokoloski, ND
