Reporting Communicable Diseases
Posted On: May 8, 2025
I just received the Public Health lab tests results for my patient indicating that they have Lyme Disease. Do I have to report this to Public Health?
Yes, Lyme Disease is a reportable disease. The Health Protection and Promotion Act (HPPA) requires registrants to notify the local medical officer of health in their public health unit if they believe the person they are treating has, or may have, a reportable disease.
For more information see the article Reportable Diseases in the Regulatory Guidance section of our website.
