Update on Council Elections for 2026
Posted On: March 4, 2026
On January 12, 2026, the College issued a Call for Applications for registrants who might be interested in being a candidate for election to the Council in 2026. There are two positions on the Council that are open for election this year. The criteria for candidates was set out in the Call for Applications.
The College received applications from four individuals which were reviewed by the Election Applications Review Panel of the Governance Committee. Three of those individuals were approved by the panel and the fourth was deemed to be ineligible due to a conflict based on existing volunteer work with the College.
The three candidates in this election are (in alphabetical order by last name):
- Dr. Amy Armstrong, ND (Belleville, ON),
- Dr. Tanzeela Javed, ND (Erin, ON),
- Dr. Kathy Van Zeyl, ND (Ottawa, ON).
This is a general announcement that you will shortly be receiving a direct email from the College giving you access to the on-line voting process for the College. You will be provided with a one-time code to access the election form and the on-line ballot. The election form will provide you with important biographical information about each candidate and an indication of why they wish to be elected to the Council. We invite all registrants to review this information and to cast their ballot.
In accordance with the newly revised by-laws, all registrants can vote for up to two candidates in this election. Balloting in this election will open on or about March 23, 2026 and will close on April 13, 2026.
We thank all the candidates for their interest in joining the Council of the College and we wish them the best of luck in the balloting process. We invite all registrants to watch for the election launch email in your in-box and to vote in this election.
