Quality Assurance Program

Under the Regulated Health Professions Act, 1991 (RHPA), all regulatory colleges – which includes the College of Naturopaths of Ontario – are legally required to develop and maintain a Quality Assurance (QA) program.

Naturopathic doctors in Ontario have an obligation to maintain and enhance their knowledge, skill and judgment, so they can provide appropriate, high-quality care to their patients and the public. The QA program is one way the College ensures that.

The Council of the College, through the QA Committee, has developed a QA Regulation and benchmarked several related health professions to develop a comprehensive QA program.  This program promotes ongoing improvement among members of the profession through:
  • Self-Assessment;
  • Continuing Competency and Professional Development; and
  • Peer and Practice Assessment.
Members who hold a General class certificate of registration with the College of Naturopaths of Ontario must participate in all of the components of QA.  Members in the Inactive class are not required to participate.
