DutiesWorking closely with the Chief Risk Officer (CRO) and senior management team, the Risk Committee will be responsible for providing organizational oversight (on behalf of the Council) to ensure that a risk management process is in place at all levels of the organization and that risk management processes are being adhered to.

This will include: Identifying and quantifying risks in the organization that may not be addressed in the risk management processes and making recommendations to the Council and the CRO that they be addressed.Defining and making recommendations to the Council regarding the College’s risk appetite and tolerance. Receiving the Integrated Risk Report and Enterprise Risk Map on behalf of the Council and advising the Council on their review and acceptance.Receiving and reviewing other reports from the CRO that might enable the Committee to offer advice and guidance to the Council and the Senior Management Team on risk-related matters.  
Work VolumeAs this is a new committee, the frequency and duration of meetings is currently difficult to estimate.  
CompensationAs set out in the Council’s Per Diem Policy.
Knowledge baseIn addition to the competency requirements set by the Council, the individual must have: A thorough understanding of the principles of and processes for organizational risk management.A good understanding of the principles of good governance in the not-for-profit sector.  
DisqualificationsThe following individuals would be disqualified from being appointed to this role: Any employee of the College.Any individual who holds a responsible position with a naturopathic professional association or naturopathic educational program.Any individual who is an employee or representative of a College approved vendor.
