Reporting Periods

All General class members of the College of Naturopaths are required to participate in Continuing Education and Professional Development activities on a three-year cycle. The reporting cycles start on October 1 and end on September 30. For example, if your CE cycle starts on October 1, 2017, your cycle end date will be September 30, 2020.

Your reporting cycle is determined by your initial year of registration and not by the specific date on which you were registered. For example, all members who were registered in 2014 have a cycle end date of September 30, 2017, regardless of whether they registered in January or December.

You will be notified of your CE reporting cycle and the deadline to submit your first CE & PD log upon registration with the College. You can also check your reporting cycle by looking up your initial registration date in your profile on the College website or by contacting the College.

Determining Your Reporting Cycle

To find out which reporting cycle you have been assigned to, please refer to the chart below.  If you are not sure when you were first registered, check your profile on the College’s website for your initial registration date.  Your first submission year (i.e. cycle end date) will be in the corresponding “1st CE & PD Log Due” box. Subsequent continuing education submissions will be due every three years following your initial submission.

For example, if you were initially registered in 1986, you will be in Group II and your first CE cycle end date is September 30, 2016. This is the due date for you to submit your Continuing Education and Professional Development log. Your next CE cycle will begin on October 1, 2016 and will end on September 30, 2019, and so on.

First Reporting Cycle

The Continuing Education component will be phased in over a three-year period to integrate all members into their respective reporting cycles. This will allow you adequate time to become familiar with the College’s QA program and complete the activities that meet the new CE guidelines. For your first reporting cycle, you will have modified CE requirements based on your cycle end date. For example, if your first cycle ends on September 30, 2016, you will only have to submit approximately two-thirds of the required number of credits for your three-year cycle.

For all members, your first CE cycle begins on April 1, 2014. Any CE credits you collect on or after April 1, 2014 can be used to fulfill the credit requirements for your first reporting cycle. This means that you will have an additional six months to complete the required number of credits for your first cycle.

The modified CE requirements for the first three reporting cycles are:

Group II – April 1, 2014 - September 2016
  • Category A – 20 credits
    • Jurisprudence – 2 credits
    • Pharmacology – 4 credits (if prescribing)
    • IVIT – 4 additional credits (if performing IVIT)
  • Category B – 26 credits

Group III – April 1, 2014 - September 2017 (full requirement)
  • Category A – 30 credits
    • Jurisprudence – 3 credits
    • Pharmacology – 6 credits (if prescribing)
    • IVIT – 6 additional credits (if performing IVIT)
  • Category B – 40 credits

Group I – April 1, 2014 - September 2018 (full requirement)
  • Category A – 30 credits
    • Jurisprudence – 3 credits
    • Pharmacology – 6 credits (if prescribing)
    • IVIT – 6 additional credits (if performing IVIT)
  • Category B – 40 credits

Following your first reporting cycle, you will be required to complete and report on the full 70 hours of Continuing Education and Professional Development every three years (October 1 - September 30).
