Appearance for Caution Sep 06, 2018 College of Naturopaths of Ontario On September 6, 2018, Ms. White appeared before a Panel of Inquiries, Complaints and Reports Committee (the Panel) to be cautioned about:
  • Inappropriately using the protected titles “Doctor”, “Naturopath”, and/or “ND” when not authorized and;
  • Failing to cooperate an investigator appointed by the College.

    The Panel outlined its concerns that Ms. White continued advertising as a naturopath and offer house calls despite being suspended. As per the Naturopathy Act, 2007, individuals whose certificate of registration has been suspended are not authorized to use the title “naturopath” or hold themselves out as a person who is qualified to practise in Ontario as a naturopath.

    The Panel emphasized that it is the Member’s responsibility to monitor and oversee any advertising material related to the Member’s practice.

    Furthermore, the Panel raised a concern that Ms. White may not fully appreciate the importance of compliance with the regulations and standards governing naturopathy in Ontario. The Panel noted that Ms. White failed to update her advertising even when she was notified of the College’s investigation into her use of restricted title and failed to provide information to the investigators within a reasonable time.

    Additionally, having reviewed Ms. White online presence on the day of the caution, the Panel noted that Ms. White continued advertising as a naturopath on various third-party websites.

    The Panel stated that should similar concerns about Ms. White’s conduct come to the attention of the College in the future, the ICRC will likely take stronger action.
