Executive Committee Elections


(Toronto, ON)  On April 24, 2019, the Council of the College of Naturopaths of Ontario, which is made up of eight elected members of the profession and five members of the public appointed by the Lieutenant Governor in Council, held elections for the positions of President, Vice President and three directors at large. In accordance with the Health Professions Procedural Code, which is Schedule 2 of the Regulated Health Professions Act, 1991, the Executive Committee must include three Council members who are Members of the profession (naturopathic doctors) and two members of the Council who are appointed by the Lieutenant Governor in Council (public members).  The by-laws of the College further require that at one of the President or Vice President must be a public member.

At its April 24, 2019 meeting, the following members of the Council were elected to the Executive Committee:  

  • Kim Bretz, ND, President;
  • Barry Sullivan (public member), Vice President;
  • Shelley Burns, ND, Officer-at-Large;
  • Tara Gignac, ND, Officer-at-Large;
  • Sam Laldin (public member) Officer-at-Large.

The Executive Committee is a statutory Committee of the College. The Committee exercises the full authority of the Council between meetings as well as oversees strategic, governance and financial planning for the Council.
